High Tech Refined Warmth
If you prefer to heat with a renewable source of fuel but are interested in eliminating much of the work involved in woodburning, then pellet-fueled technology may be just right for you. Pellets are formed from recycled wood waste, and then packaged in convenient and clean 40-pound bags. Pellets are fed automatically to the fire by means of an auger system, and they produce the cleanest-burning wood fire possible.
Even cleaner burning, in most cases, than EPA-listed wood stoves and inserts, pellet stoves produce particulate emissions as low as 0.7 grams per hour and generate up to 53,000 BTUs at efficiencies around 80 percent. Pellet furnaces are also available that produce up to 85,000 BTUs: as much heating power as many household central heating systems.
It is no surprise that, with recent dramatic increases in fuel costs, economical pellet stoves and inserts are the subjects of intense interest. Plus, pellet fuel costs have remained remarkably low, making this heating option even more attractive. |
