Hello!
What a year 2008 was for the pellet industry! The prospect of $5.00/gallon for heating fuel created a demand for pellets stoves not seen before. The overwhelming demand combined with the lack of raw materials caused by the downturn in housing needs for wood products contributed to a scarcity of pellets. It was touch and go last Fall; however, the prospect for this Spring is much improved. Unfortunately, we are not seeing the decrease in prices as is usual this time of year. We are, instead, signing contracts at higher prices as mills are having to spend more money to secure raw materials. We are expecting shortages again this coming heating season.
I have always said there are three factors to consider when deciding to purchase pellets: the first and most important is quality as measured by ash content of the pellet. The second is price for pellets and handling. The third is availability. Availability may outshine the other two this year. I am buying as much as possible, earlier than usual, but with no definite promises concerning availability this Fall. Mills are simply unable to predict output when raw material supplies are in question. In these difficult economic times, come what may, the one certainty is that it will get cold again this coming Winter.
Our Early Buy price is $269.00/ton paid in full by May 31, 2009. These pellets are sold only in full ton quantities and must be picked up by June 30, 2009. The money is credited to your account and pellets are charged against your account as you pick them up. Pellets are available for pickup once youve prepaid. Please make plans to claim and store your pellets in the Spring. We do not have the room and cannot store the Early Buy pellets. Any pellets not retrieved by June 30th will be charged at the current market price at the time of pickup. There will be NO exceptions made! Please pickup your pellets by the appointed time or pay the difference!
The constant demand brings availability into the forefront when thinking of fuel for the next heating season. Order now! Your early order assures that your pellets will be available.
